Indication: Cimetidine is prescribed for the treatment of duodenal ulcers, gastric ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn, and pathological hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Class: It belongs to the class of medications known as H2-receptor antagonists.

Mechanism of Action: Cimetidine works by competitively inhibiting histamine at H2 receptors of the gastric parietal cells, leading to reduced secretion of gastric acid and pepsin.

Formulation: Available in tablet form, chewable tablet, effervescent tablet, and liquid forms for oral administration.
